Practice Tournaments

An exciting online game of knowledge and recall using past IAC questions. Questions are both read out loud and revealed visually one word at a time. Buzz in the moment you know the answer, then select it from 6 possible choices. Each game is open for 7 days (Thursday to Wednesday): play any time in that window. When the tournament closes, compare your results with students at your level and get a personalized study guide.

How it works

• 90 questions, 3 rounds of 30. From IAC's Past Question Archive.
• Online, any time during the week it is open (Thursday to Wednesday). Play all 3 rounds at once, or one round at a time.
• Questions are read out loud and revealed on the screen. Clues go from hardest to easiest. Buzz in as soon as you know the answer, then select it from 6 possible choices: 7 seconds at Level 1, 5 seconds at Level 2 and 3 seconds at Level 3.
• Buzz against yourself. The buzzer captures your own reaction time: the sooner you buzz in with the right answer, the more you score (+6, +5, +4 or +3). An incorrect answer costs −2 while the question is being read, or −1 after. No answer scores 0.
• No looking things up. It tests your knowledge and recall, not your search skills.
• When the tournament closes: a personalized study guide is emailed to you, and there is a leaderboard for each level. Compare your results with students at your level.
